Two Busy Girls

So here it's nearly Christmas and I am just getting around to updating my attempt at a blog, thank you to Denise for the pressure.

Kaci has been in preschool now for nearly 4 months. We have loads of artwork from the fall, it seems like she brought home something new each day. She does really enjoy creating; whether it's playdough, painting, or stamping, she's in! (The messier the better. She is her mother's daughter ; ) She loved it when the firefighter came to visit. In fact she decided that's what she wants to be when she grows up. Which has since evolved to "I want to be a firefighter, teacher, doctor." Not a bad combination, eh? She is also taking more interest in her little sister. She has such a caring heart. Whenever Megan is hurt or crying Kaci goes on a quick hunt for Meg's "blanky" to help soothe her. She also helps mom and dad keep our eye out for Megan when she wanders to places she shouldn't be...such a little mother that girl. She has "grown up" so much in the past few months, Jason and I both would like to freeze time to slow things down.

Megan has done a lot of growing herself. She is always on the move, and never stops talking. She's putting her words together in phrases now. She is a little parrot and likes to mimic all of us, especially her big sister. In fact at preschool Kaci has been learning beginning sounds which involves a lot of, "/d/d/-daddy, /m/m/- mommy, etc. Megan now does this which may appear as though she is stuttering, when in fact she is just phonemically aware! ; ) Her personality is really coming through, and she is becoming our little comedian. A month or so ago she started pulling her hand inside her sleeve and saying "where'd go?" and when we responded with a concerned, "oh no where'd Megan's hand go?" She pushes out the sleeve and cracks up, and of course repeats that sequence several times over. She also just loves to be outside. She just loves that she is able to do more and more and pushes the boundaries each day. She's a runner and a climber, so we are always on are toes trying to keep up with her.

As far as Jason and I we actually took a vacation to Cabo this past October. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort, and had a wonderful time. It was our first real vacation minus kids since we started our family. We really enjoyed having a little time to catch up with one another, becasue let's face it with two busy little girls most of our conversations involve keeping up with the day to day tasks keeping a family running. So it really was a revitalizing time for us. We've decided we should do that at least every other year, with a family trip on alternating years. SO we're still brainstorming where our next trip will be?

We did invest in a travel trailer this summer, which has been such a fun addition. We call it our "Memory Maker" because we really enjoy weekend getaways as a family making memories that we hope the girls will remember for many years. I know we will. I will work on getting some of those photos added to this site soon...
